GeoStru software is used worldwide and is translated into many languages. Reliability, computation accuracy and ease of use are some of the strong points of our programs.
The progress and updating of the software has brought many new features such as the integration of the GeoDropBox Cloud service: now within the programs you can synchronize your GeoDropBox account from which you can upload and save project files and more (the service allows the storage of any type of file).
In the course of numerous updates, GeoStru has not limited itself to this but has implemented methods and ways of customization with which the user can “adapt” the software to his own needs. These are innovations and upgrades that are not visible but they bring a lot of added value to our software: it is the case of the possibility to translate the software in the desired language and to modulate the regulations according to the standards of your country.
Next, we will explain in detail every step.
How to translate the software
Most GeoStru software is translated into 4 languages: Italian, English, Romanian and Spanish. Some, such as Slope, are translated into more than 4 languages (in this case Italian, English, Spanish, Romanian, French, Polish, Portuguese), so GeoStru already offers by default complete multilingual programs.
Once you have purchased and installed the software, you can change the language at any time. The purchase of the license also includes the software in the various available languages. You do not need to purchase another license for a different language and you do not need to reinstall the software.
It may happen that a specific program is not available in a specific language, or better, the translation is not available (because we are talking about translation and not about a different software, this is the real difference from the competition), so what can you do?
Simple, just go to the installation directory of the program where you will find a folder named “Language”. It contains *.CSV files:

Inside, as you can see from Fig.1, the *.CSV files are named with the name of the software plus the language suffix (_IT= Italian, _EN= English and so on).
Opening the file you will notice the structure of the above file, consisting of 4 columns (Figure 2):
- The first column identifies a unique numeric code for the term to be translated;
- The second column contains the terms of the source language to be translated;
- The third column is occupied by the equal sign;
- The fourth column contains the terms translated according to those in the second column.

The user who wants to have the software translated into his own language (not available when the software is purchased), will simply have to copy a *. CSV file and rename it with the suffix relative to the abbreviation of the new translated language (for example: Loadcap_FR.csv for French translation, Loadcap_PT.csv for Loadcap in Portuguese and so on) and then replace the terms in the fourth column. The suffix will be used to identify the language in the software settings:

If the user would like to have for example English as the source language to be translated (column 2) instead of Italian, just replace the content of the second column with the one contained in the fourth column and then carry out the translation in the latter (the same applies for the other languages).
In the latest updates, the software is not installed in the classic C:\GEOSTRU directory. Some GeoStru programs explicitly specify the installation location (Figure 4):

In Fig. 4 is shown a screenshot of GeoStru DeepFound 2022 software for the bearing capacity and settlements of mat foundations on piles, where you can see the message in which the installation directory is made explicit.
Alternatively, as shown in Fig. 5 on Retaining walls software – MDC 2022, you can reach the folder immediately by clicking on “Open Main Folder” (Figure 5):

The *.CSV file must be saved, if created from scratch, in CSV format with UTF8 encoding.
Customization of technical regulations
Similarly to the settings, the standards are modular according to your needs. The folder where the *.CSV files are located is “Standards Geo“, also found in the installation directory (Figure 6):

When you open the file, you can see its structure (Fig. 7) which must not be altered (you can translate “DESCR” field), otherwise the software will not read it successfully:

In the *.CSV file you can modify the numerical values of the parameters.
Again, it is worth mentioning, that you just need to create a copy of the base file to be modified and, once saved and renamed, the file name will be read as the name of the new regulation within the software. In Figure 8, for example, a copy of the NTC 2018 has been created called “NTC_2018 – copy.csv ” (Fig. 8):

Both the language and regulation *.CSV files must be closed before starting the software.
